| I have some solid wood 6 panel interior doors that were installed a few years ago, but they weer never painted or stained. The doors are now dirty from use and I'd like to apply a stain/varnish to finish them. What's the best way to clean and prep them for staining? Sand all the duirt off? Is there a good wash that won't harm the finish look? I want to stain and not paint.

| Naphtha might be a good choice for grease and it won't raise the grain. Beyond that TSP. The water will raise the grain. Just use a damp rag and don't saturate the wood. Then sand. |

| Minwax makes a prep product for this, as well as another company I can't remember the name of? A good independent paint store would be a good place to start for these products. |
