I need to replace a carport roof. It has one layer of ordinary asphalt shingles over tarpaper on 1/2" plywood (where they are not blown off). It has a pretty shallow pitch, but the old roof did not leak until it got quite bad. I live in a very VERY windy area. 70+mph winds happen several times a year.

We are hoping that there is a way to reroof without paying a lot. We are too old to do it ourselves.

Anyone have any ideas on how to perhaps save on either materials or labor?
