Cracked Flat celing

We just had a new flat drywall ceiling installed as part of a kitchen Reno.

The contractor used 4x8 sheets on 24" centers. Patched with dura bond.

Every single sheet has cracked within weeks.

Is there any chance this ceiling can be saved? Do we need to re screw it for more support?

The new kitchen has been installed and I desperately do not want to take down the ceiling.HELP.

I assume the cracks are on sheet joints and warranty is not an option. 24" is too wide and will probibly sagg some time in the future. The only diy remedy I can come up with involves trim fastened over all joints. Believe it or not,a different shade (same color) of paint on drywall and trim looks better than same shade on both. Prefferably slightly darker on drywall than trim.

Do you know the thickness of the drywall? In my allotment, every house is 24" O.C., 5/8" sheetrock is required.

Maybe he used 1/2"? Hopefully he taped the joints too b/4 finishing.

I believe he did use 1/2".

This won't be a DIY fix I just don't want to be sold into a replace if a repair is possible.

At this point a Replace is looking like the only option. :(
