| We are in need of replacing our approx. 29 year old shake roof. Since we know very little about shingles and there are so many options available, we would like to ask any professional roofers out there about their preferred manufacturers and types of shingles. We are located in the SF Bay Area, with its very moderate climate. I have read very negative things about some very well-known manufacturers on this website, and I am hoping to find some positive suggestions. TIA,

| being a former ca resident, i'd want something with a fire resistant quality...having said that and trying to do a search, i sure can understand your problem! i did find a composit shingle with a fire rate, and cedar shake...also have you thought of the newer rubber shingle? saw it used recently on this old house... |
