Exterior foundation cracks

I am looking to paint my exterior foundation wall but have some small cracks along various different spots. The area I am speaking of is just the bottom 2 feet just below where siding starts. I assume that I should patch these up before I paint but dont really know the best way. They are all just hairline cracks and nothing too major as far as length goes. I read somewhere else that I should cold chisel these out some in the shape of a V but that just seems a bit of an overkill. Please let me know of any good suggestions.

There are several cement crack fillers at your local big box store.

Get the crack filler, wet the area you are working on, then use a damp large sponge and work the crack filler into the crack.
