Need help determining cost to remove popcorn ceiling, texture with light skip trowel finish, and paint 2 coats on 2544 ft/sq (no asbestos). Also need estimated cost to have light skip trowel finish applied over walls with existing orange peel type texture on 4218 ft/sq. Are there any professional standards/rates to go by?

If you give the area you are in and someone on these forums is in your area and has a similar project, they might be able to give you an idea. Pricing varies by regions, even within the state, so it's always best to get real world estimates from outfits in your area.

First determine if it contains asbestos. There are a lot of websites that can help you. Then ask contractors to give you a price. Any prices you get on a national forum will be useless to you.

Julierunner, did you find a good contractor for your popcorn ceilings? I am also in Orange County area and am looking to possibly hire it out as well. Could you give me name of who you used?
