Garage Door Opener - No Power

I have a Genie garage door opener (branded Overhead Door Python2).

I opened the garage door with the remote yesterday morning. The carriage went all the way back to the unit and seemed to jam. The power would not come back on.

I came back about 30 minutes later, and the power was on. I pressed the open/close button on the garage wall, and the power went off again. I disconnected the door from the carriage and closed it.

I noticed today that the carriage was jammed up against the motor housing. I took the bottom cover off the housing and turned the motor until I got the carriage past the stop.

Still, I can't get the power to come on. I've plugged a hair dryer into the outlet into both plugs and both work.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Jeff

Sounds like a safety switch bad or maybe a breaker on the motor tripped.
Try disconnecting from the door & see if it will work

We are trying to install a new Genie door and the same thing has happened. No power. We disconnected and it still doesn't work. We have tried everything we can think of. Thought about turning the drive shaft but was afraid it might do damage to something. Is there a "reset" button on this thing somewhere?

Pam, check the trouble shooting section in the manual. If that's no help, call the company.

If you are sure you have power to the opener call the dealer where you purchased it. It has a warranty.
