replacing subfloor

as you can see in the pic,I've cut out some of the plywood subfloor in my kitchen to make room for new wiring. it looks like the subfloor was first glued down with some black stuff (to prevent creaking maybe?) and then nailed down. my question is simply if I should put something like "liquid nails" down on the joist tops before screwing down the piece of subfloor I'm replacing.

Get the stuff on the joists off first.

Second, add blocking at the ends of the replacement piece---for support.

Using adhesive would be a good idea---and screws instead of nails.

thanks for the response handymac. yes,I was planning to put plenty of "blocking" and some "sistering" in a few places so the subfloor will be good and strong. yes,screws are the way to go. will use lots of them all over the floor to prevent sqeaking under the new engineered wood floor.
