I found out that my Sears Craftman Garage door started doing the same thing today. When I press either the keypad unit or the touch pad outside, the garage door would stop at only 10 inches off the ground, then it closes again, and tries to re-open. I checked the chain unit, and didn't see anything wrong with it. Should I be checking somewhere else? I just replaced the touch pad about two months ago, and now this. Thank you for any answers you can provide me.

Disconnect the trolley from the door and operate it manually to see if you have a broken spring or some other mechanical problem with the door mechanism independent of the opener. If the door operates smoothly and without significant effort, increase the opwener force slightly (adjustment should be at the unit) and see if that corrects the problem.

Also check to see if the tracks have come loose and the photoeyes are moving as the door closes.
