My son has purchased a house as a fixer up to resell. It has aluminum windows with individual panes. There are 2 windows with 1 pane out of each. How should he replace these?

he can do it himself, or for a little more have a pro company do it. on the house we used to rent it cost us a whopping 37.50 to have a pro come out and replace a 12x12 pane of glass on the front window. the glass itself was 15.00 of that charge. PS, if your son bought a fixer upper and does not know how to even change out a pane of glass, he needs to look elsewhere for income. not trying to be smart aleck about it, just pointing out that this is likely one of the easiest repairs so he could be way over his head on this one.

Aluminum windows are glazed in different ways. If it is a commercial grade window the stops & caps may be on the exterior and compressible butyl glazing tape used between the glass and the interior frame. Residential grade aluminum windows are often glazed from the inside in a similar fashion but might use a silicone sealant. Finding the right glazing tape/sealant can be a problem. You need to tell us more about the kind of aluminum window, the glazing system, and the type of glass.
