I have a 1/2 HP craftsman garage door opener, Model # 139.53660SRT1. I had a problem with the door: when I would push the start button the chain would move about 1-1/2 ft. and then automically return to where it started from. After finding this forum site I read about someone with a similar problem and I changed the RPM sensor and it corrected the travel problem. My problem now is that I cannot get my remote to program. The door works fine from the wall control button. I thought my remote was getting old and maybe needed replacing so I purchased another but neither one of the remotes want to program. I tried clearing the memory in the opener and then tried to program the remotes but I am not getting the flash of the light that should occur when you reprogram a remote. The remote I just purchased seems to be the same part but the only thing that I noticed is that the new remote only has one 3 volt battery. My old remote had two 3 volt batteries. Can this be the problem?
