| My curbside mailbox recently fell off the post and I bought a wall mounted one to put near our front door similar to many of my neighbors.
The area is covered with Hardi Plank so I doubt my stud finder will be able to locate the wall studs. Any suggestions on best way to mount the mailbox? Should I simply drill the two holes anywhere and use a wall anchor? |

| Yes, anchors should work fine. The Hardi-Plank is most likely installed over 7/16" sheathing or plywood, which would allow a screw to grip. However, for long term security, go with an anchor. I would suggest a moly bolt style rather than the ones that simply expand a bit when you insert the fastener. Also be aware that Hardi-Plank is very hard, and it may help to use a masonry bit for you holes. |
