Tile over latex paint

We are adding a backsplash, and had to do some drywall work first. We were told by the tile store that we had to paint over fresh drywall before tiling, so we did. Now we see that latex paint takes 21-30 days to cure. Do we have to wait that long before tiling? What is the danger?

Just recognize that whatever is bonding to the tile will also be bonding to a coat of paint.

Hi,
I have tiled directly over PVA primer on new sheetrock, no problems. The PVA is very compatible with thinset, better than many other primers I daresay.
