| I noticed a small puddle of water in the basement carpet which has gotten bigger in the last 2 days. It did not rain yesterday, but puddle got bigger. It is in the middle of the basement, not too close to a wall. It is not leaking from the ceiling. I'm not sure what it could be -- any thoughts? House built in 1947, brick colonial-- never had leaking problems before - 10 years in the house - Should I call a plumber or waterproofing contractor? |

| I'm not a repair person, but if it were my house, I would pull up the carpet and try to figure out what direction the water is coming from. Is it possible there is a floor drain under the carpet? |
|
| Yes, step 1 is to look under the carpet. |
