I'm about to put up the jambs on my long delayed pocket door installationa and I'm wondering how much clearance to leave between the edge of the door and the jamb. I guess if too tight it might bind. What experience do our readers have? I'm thinking an eighth of an inch.

Are you talking about the face of the door and the jamb opening, or something else?
|
Sorry about the ambiguity. I meant that when the pocket door is within the wall, what is the clearance between the edge of the door and the edge of the jamb next to it. Tool much would look sloppy. Too little might allow it to bind. Checking Johnson Pocket door site indicates 3/16" is proper, so my question has been answered, unless someone has practical experience otherwise.

3/16" is a common reveal for standard door to jamb spacing, door casings, pocket door clearance. It seems to be a finish carpenters universal number concerning doors although concerning casings, some prefer more reveal, or less.
