Adding wall partition w/ bi-fold doors for laundry

I'm about to tackle breaking out the corner whirl-pool tub and raised floor in our master bath to move the laundry there. After plumbing, gas or power (pending estimates), and tiling the floor, we want to put a partition with with bi-fold doors to block the view of the machines and folding table. Can I frame over the ceramic tile and drywall on the walls? I figure I put some nailers in the attic if needed (won't be fun to wade through the 18' of insulation we just had blown up there). The wall will be around 8' long and have a large opening for the bi-fold doors. So it only needs to be strong enough to hold up the doors.
