Load bearing closet?

Posted by sparkeze (My Page) on

Off the back of my house there is an addition of about 400 sq ft and there is a flat roof on top and crawl underneath. I want to remove a closet that has a crawl access panel inside it and am wondering what to look for to see if any part of the closet is load bearing, any advice? Thanks!

Not Enough Info

Not enough info.

Provide a framing diagram/floorplan of your house and we may get somewhere.

Provide ceiling joist and rafter sizes, spans, spacing on center, and the species of lumber used.

Also explain what you plan to do with the access to your crawlspace once the closet is removed.

RE: Load bearing closet?

It is pretty easy to determine the load bearing walls and/or posts by looking at the supporting structure in the crawl space. All structural loads have to be transferred to the foundation.
