heating a Garage- but what about those attic vents??

Hi, I have a small 1 car garage (narrow but long) and recently put a man door in and would like to use it as an occasional workshop, as its too much of a pain getting the car in--- and I haven't been doing it in over 10 yrs.

Its not insulated, no ceiling although it has tongue and groove boards and is fully sided over that- and I'm going to insulate the door. I don't think I'll use it enough in the winter to do all the walls and ceiling. I'd just like to click on an oil heater for a couple hours when I'm out there and still wear a coat, and those run pretty cheap. But my question is about the attic vents.

There are two square vents at the north and south roof peaks, which of course move air out in the summer. Is there some kind of louvre doors I can put on these, I assume any heat I use in the garage is going to go right up and out the vents. But how much heat is being lost? And of course I'd like to open them come spring.

Anyone come across this and what did you do
? ? ?
