Need help to select carpet and pad for a bonus room over a ca

I have a bonus room over a car garage to be finished as a guest room. The contractorÃ¯Â¿Â½s estimate will install 35 ounce carpet with 6# pad. Are the 35 ounce carpet and 6# pad good enough or I should request heaver carpet and at least 8# pad? Thank you for your answer.

I am no expert, but, I would go with the thickest pad possible and pick the carpet you like the most. Pick a color that will wear well.
