Roof Options and look on rear addition

Hi,

We have an old home of about 1000 sq feet and we are adding a rear addition to the house. This rear addition will be a 600 square foot first floor and 600 second story. We are trying to decide on which roof option looks best for the addition and the best way to style the exterior with dormers, windows, other elements to blend the two structures and prevent the addition from looking like a big bolt on.

The main house is historic and thus no changes to the front house and roof pitch can occur. Also we can't add a dormer or other architectural element to the original house. On the new structure we can have dormers, different roof style, bay windows, etc.... The only condition is the new structure needs to be no wider than the original house.

I added a few windows to the jerkinhead roof option to give you an idea were we are currently thinking about placing windows. I have not updated the hip roof option but you get the idea.

All thoughts are appreciated.

See pic attached for the current options we have mocked up.

Joe
