Install some pine boards flush with the drywall, then add casing. For the window, rip them as necessary so the back edge gets close to the foundation wall, then caulk the gap.

I would make pieces to install on the framing to cover the framing(concrete to drywall and door frame to drywall) and be even with the drywall. T%hen it is a simple matter of installing the case trim around the window/door.

The problem is that the window opens inward and it just barely fits through the foundation. I don't think there is enough space to add in a pine board as the window won't be able to open if we go past the foundation. The pictures don't show it as well I guess..it looks like the framing is away from the foundation, but in fact it's almost flush but there is a gap (where the insulation is) Unless I find a super thin piece of pine the window won't be able to open past the foundation. I'll try to take another pic at a better angle. And I'll open the window for reference.

No pictures showing for me. You can trim down the end of the window jamb extension near the window to get clearance for swinging (not much required if the window swings inward from the top). Jamb extensions are easy to make if you have a table saw.

| SOme more pics... We have about 1/4" clearance from the framing to the window to open it. We have another window that has less then 1/8" clearance. This next pic is looking head on..the white is the framing and you can't even see the foundation as it's almost flush

It looks like the original openings in the foundation were smaller than desirable. The framing also failed to allow for any reasonable casing in the opening. It might be time for a new slightly smaller window, or just resign yourself to either not very nice trim out or windows that do not open. The thinnest stuff is still around 1/8 inch.

We had the same windows, which leak around the edges. We replaced with a vinyl slider with double pane, low E glass. The panes can be lifted and removed from the track if necessary.
