Duct work for new range hood

I am replacing a large and hideous 72" Vent A Hood with a 54" Wolf Pro Wall Chimney Hood. The Vent A Hood had 2 separate blowers each with an 8" duct that travel 30 inches up to the roof. The Wolf requires a 10" duct, so I want to run an elbow just above the ceiling from each of the existing ducts to a 8 to 10 inch transition (for each) inside the ceiling to a "T" that drops down to attach to the Wolf hood. Does this sound like it would work? With the short run and the 2 vents, it seems like this would be fine for the single 1200 cfm blower. This plan seems to meet all the specs for the Wolf installation guide. Do I need a backdraft damper as well? There was one in the vent a hood that would make flapping noises during high winds. Any comments or things I've forgotten?
