Tired of doing dishes by hand. We remodeled our kitchen soon after we bought this house 5 years ago. This is our first & only house. Shortly after the contractor started his work, we requested adding a built-in dishwasher. He shook his head saying the permit was prohibitively expensive for adding one in San Francisco - we would have to get a separate one for plumbing & electricity. Being newbies, we believed him.

I see people doing this all the time though. I wonder if this guy lied to us so he could finish the job quickly and move on to another job. Getting a city permit does take quite a few weeks. Anyone in SF have any experience with this? Thx!
