French Doors replace Arcadia Door

I have an issue mounting French doors. My new French Doors replace an arcadia. The RO after removing the arcadia will leave a gap above the new french doors of 3 1/2". I will fill that with (2) 2x4's nailed to the existing 2x12 header. How do I fill the stucco void created by this 3 1/2" gap, on the outside wall to insure water tightness. It is a Stucco home. There is NO wrap paper under the stucco. They used black papered sheetrock on the outside of the studs, then wire, then stucco.

You could remove even more of the stucco and put an exposed wood beam across the top. Or remove stucco on all three sides and do a foam deco pop-out that gets restuccoed. That would eliminated the patched stucco look.
