placement of kitchen knobs and pulls

Just put new cabinet doors and drawer fronts on cabinets. In a panic now about proper placement of knobs for cabinets and pulls for drawers. Is there a rule of thumb? Also I have a lower cabinet door right next to a pull out garbage door. They are right next to each other. Do I put a knob in the upper corner of each or center a knob for the pullout? HELP!!!!!

The link below shows the garbage unit with a knob but I would find it difficult to open with a knob in the corner. If you have a drawer above the garbage cabinet, then I'd put the same pull that is on the drawer on the center of the garbage door. But that's me..........
