You're not being too picky, but it may not be the installation entirely. It could be the material isn't milled correctly. However, a good installer would have brought that to your attention before installation. Take a good look at the leftovers and see if they are perfectly straight and especially the ends are square and true. What brand did you purchase and where did you get it? A lot of Lumber Liquidator's stuff and other low cost Chinese milled material is infamous for poor milling quality.

I purchased it from Tompkins flooring. It is Mohawk brand. I did notice one end of a board not square, but I think for the most part, they are good, straight, true.

I also noticed a "chip" on the side of one board which makes for a sharp edge that if has enough traffic on, will snag things. I think they should have noticed that and picked another board.

I do believe it is the installation. Also, I am not sure what they are using to "tap" the boards together. I have seen a few rubber mallets, but I think one of the guys is just using his hands and just fitting them together.

As I mentioned, these are glued down so is it unreasonable for me to want them to pulled up (and repair whatever damage this causes to the subfloor) and replace?

I purchased the material from the same company that is doing the installation ... so furnished and installed.
