Turning a laundry room into a bathroom

Hello,

I just put an offer in on a house and it was accepted---yay! It is small and only has one (small) bathroom, but it does have a main floor (no basement) laundry room though and I'm thinking about trying to turn that into a second bath (3/4 hopefully).

There is a closet next to the main bathroom that I'm hoping to put a stackable washer and dryer in (my mom did this in her house so I know it's possible).

What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

A laundry waste is unlikely to be adequate for a 3/4 bath so check to see how far away a main waste stack is and if there is an adequate vent above the laundry.

Thank you for the info Reno----i will look into those two things during my inspection. A half bath would be OK too and then I could probably leave the washer and dryer in there---just stack them

We turned a large bath/laundry room into a small bath w/laundry in the closet and a separate bath off of the master bedroom. The original bath was large w/lots of wasted space. It took some careful planning, but I wouldn't change it as I love having a master bath!

The toilet is what takes a lot of drainage (waste pipe) not the other quarter of the bathroom. So, whether 1/2 or 3/4, you'll need to check where the main waste line is and how far from that it is...
