Removing cabinets over peninsula-carefully

We need to take the over-the-peninsula cabinets down pretty soon and haven't come up with a good plan. We'd like them to come down in one piece as they are in good condition and we'd like to donate them. Although I refer to the cabinets in the plural, the run is all one piece.

The problem is that they are attached to the ceiling with 2 large screws and a fair number of large nails. Really. There is no attachment to the wall, just these big nails and 2 screws in the ceiling. Maybe when the screws are unscrewed the nails will pull out? And if they don't, then what? Anybody dealt with this?

and here's the screws and nails. The rest of the run just has two nails per joist. It's possible my husband put the screws in 37 years ago when we moved in. The nail coming through the back which looks like it might be a staple appears to be what's holding the trim piece on the back side of the cabinet.
