Window placement in newly renovated dining room

Hello ~ We are doing a major renovation on the main floor of our house that involves relocating our dining room to the front of the house - street facing. We are replacing windows, and have a dilemma regarding the window placement in our dining room.

Currently there are two single hung windows in the 12' x 13' room - facing the front of the house - that are spaced about 3' apart. Left where they are, they are extremely off-center to the room from the inside with the remodel. We were thinking of replacing those two windows with one picture window that was moved to be more central to the interior space and the dining room table, but doing that would totally throw off the window placement on the outside of the house. The house is a colonial, and the 2 windows we would replace have 2 matching windows directly above them, as most colonials do. There is no way to both center a new window placement from the inside and the outside. Centering in the inside means the new window won't even be below one of the windows above it.

We thought doing one larger window would help, but it's really not. What do people think is more important - to keep symmetrical the street view/exterior of the house, or centering the window in the interior dining room space? Would a double window or just moving the two windows closer to the center so they are more in line on the exterior be better than a picture window? A picture window draws your attention to that feature and may make the issue more obvious. We have much disagreement on the topic around here.
