Possible load bearing wall hindering kitchen remodel

Trying to tear down two walls, one is parallel to the second story floor joists the other is perpendicular to them. The two walls are intersecting one another. The floor joists are engineered wood i-beams that span the entire width of the house. I feel that the wall perpendicular to the joists is not load bearing and is simply there for framing purposes, but on the other hand I feel that it is since it is resting directly on top of the wall below it.
