Kitchen Island Overhang - Images Requests

Hi All,

I'm in the middle of a remodel and will have an 8.5 x 5 island that I'd like to include a nice large overhang without visible supports. My ideal would be a radius cut that goes from 18" at the deepest point down to 15". I've been warned that a large overhang like this without legs can have a "surf board" appearance and I'm wondering if anyone is willing to share images of their overhangs with dimensions of overhangs so that I can decide if I will like the end result.

You might find more help on this in the kitchen forum.
I'd be concerned about the support of that weight more than the surfboard appearance, myself.

My island is 70" by 42". Our granite sits on a plywood base with metal support and one metal post.

I sure hope it doesn't look like a surf board.

This shows the plywood with the metal supports inserted.

I have not idea if this helps you are not but just wanted to get things started.
