We are getting ready to install new full frame casement windows on our Cedar Sided house. We are going to have to trim out the windws after cutting the siding back to install the new windows with a nailing fin.

I was thinking about going back with 3 1/2 trim if that is wide enough to properly weather proof the window.

for the trim product, I was wondering if the Hardie Trim or LP Smart Side trim would go with the cedar lap siding fine or should I stick with cedar wood as the trim.

Another question I have is, Does the trim look better painted the color of the house or the color of the window.
