Trim 'damage' by roof opinion please

Posted by hoosierdoc (My Page) on

We're selling our home and the inspector said we needed to repair damaged trim around this dormer. The roof is too steep for me to get next to the area, but I got about six feet away and zoomed in to get some pics. It looks to me like they split the wood to wedge in some flashing but I can't really tell. Is this something that should be addressed or is not a real issue?

I included a few pics
