Please help with siding color with red brick.

I have included a picture. The original part of the home was built in the 50's. Apparently to save money! when the addition was added the put vinyl on half of it. I hate the vinyl and the color. Would love to replace with board and batten(real wood). Not sure if we are rep, acing or just painting, but please give me advice. We are remodeling the porches and have removed the shutters(to be replaced with real wood shutters. Please offer suggestions. I like a cottage look and feel. Thank you!

RE: Please help with siding color with red brick.

We are in the middle of the same choices you are! Our home was built in 1983 and the front is red brick but more towards red orange than a blue red. Splashes of black in it. The trim is beige and stained brown shakes. We are thinking of doing dark grey hardy plank with white trim. Concerned as I do not want it to look too dark and small. It is a 4 bedroom center hall colonial.

We are also considering dark gray with white trim. I would love to hear any other suggestions though.
