Standing Seam Metal Roof with No 'Pencil Ribs'

We hope to put a standing seam metal roof on our home. It has a low pitch, but there is a brand that works. Nu-Ray 2000. http://www.nuraymetals.com/pr/profiles/pdf/Series_2000.pdf

Our roofer is trying to talk us into adding "pencil ribs" to prevent "oil canning." Apparently, "oil canning" is what happens in warmer weather when the metal tries to expand (or contract) and it buckles, creating uneven waves or dimples across the roof. Personally, I think the raised ribs between the standing seams look wrong. I'd prefer just flat metal between the sanding seams.

Anyone have any experience or advice on this one?

We live in Seattle. It seems to rarely get hot out here!
