Follow up on my original post.
Attached picture is our Kitchen cabinets with Maple wood stain, which is want we want for our stairs.

Your kitchen cabinets are gorgeous. But, I don't think your stairs are awful.

If it was too expensive for me; I'd live with it for a while (what choice do you have, really?). But, really, I think they look okay together, even good!

It may bug you for a while, or it may grow on you.

I can't answer your question about what is possible. But, wanted to lend some reassurance.

May be after painting is done both may look good together, let us see.

I think it'll look great--a little stark right now without color, but it's going to be okay!

i LOVE both stain colors! I would actually paint the skirt on your steps your trim color, along with the risers (but you could paint the risers a different color - I did on mine and it looks really great). leave the handrail the godiva color. it pops and looks really classy. dark dark handrails look very rich.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm looking at different options now. I checked with couple of contractors and both say that Godiva stain would have entered the grain and it is going to be a heck of job to remove the stain and suggesting that replacing the entire stairs would be better option than re-staining.

I'm leaning towards keeping the Godiva in handrails and changing stains skirts and risers or painting them.

I'm waiting for the painting to be done to upload more photos.
