I have never seen or heard of such siding, not saying it does not exist I just have not seen it. You could get it run special but will get pricey of there are not knives already cut at the mill for the pattern. And poplar or MDF would definitely have to be run special.

I am very familiar with shiplap siding but that was not what you described in your first post.

Yeah, not sure why you asked for something so custom when the original pic used plain readily available siding.

Thanks just wondered if there was something out there that I was missing. I suppose I can just use spacers and straight boards... will need a helper though.

If you're not finding standard shiplap at a building supply house, then you're either not shopping at the right location, or else it's not common enough in your area to carry it as a stocked item. It's probably available through special order, though there will be a minimum purchase for that.

BTW, for an interior application, it should be applied over drywall for fire safety reasons. Just substitute drywall for the sheathing in the diagram, and omit the felt paper.
