2. Where are you located? Geographical location makes a big difference in costs.

I have 3 days to cancel and after reading a bunch of threads, am starting to worry.

It sounds a little high, even for Calif., but how much of the bid is labor....and how many bids did you get before you signed the contract?

Costs can vary greatly with quartz and glass backsplash, so one would need to know sq ft cost of each to say if you're being overcharged. What other countertop material are you using if only 26 sq ft are in quartz?

Are you in a house, townhome, condo?

It sounds high to me. I'd cancel the contract, and let them know you need to get a few more estimates. And, that you will be in contact with them after you have done more research.

Seems "normal" but not what I call reasonable. I updated my 1980 kitchen myself for $500 this included painting all the cabinets, new porcelain sink new pull down faucet hardware and poured concrete countertop. I am also in the SF Bay Area.

If you are planning to sell or rent it out those eventualities are different goals. For a rental, a nice laminate countertop would be fine. For sale, granite or quartz would be a better idea. Unless the cabinets are terrible terrible just prime and paint for either eventuality. New hardware will dress it up a lot I got nice knobs on amazon for $1 each and some drawer pulls for $4.50.

Also really consider that you plan to rent or sell in two years. Either way check out your competition. Visit homes for sale or rent. What do they have? Do not spend alot or any money unless its warranted. Check with real estate agents.
