Concrete Overlay

I'm thinking about pouring a layer of concrete over my existing foundation as the tile on my patio has been torn up and I'd like to create a stamped concrete Ashlar Slate look.

In the process, I'm tossing around the idea of laying 1/2" PVC pipe on the existing surface which would serve as a network of conduits for a drip system for potted plants. If I don't, I'll have exposed tubing in my 100% concrete patio.

If I were to pour a thin slab atop the existing slab, would it make sense to pour over PVC pipe then run drip tubing through the PVC pipe to the hose bib etc.

My concerns are how thick the slab will need to be and whether or not the PVC will compromise the integrity of the slab or interfere with the stamping process. Any ideas?
