| Hi, I am doing a renovation of my 1988 house. My question is, there are some rooms that I would like to be a little more soundproof- like the powder room off the kitchen. Most interior doors in my house are those cheapo 6 panel doors. Would it be totally weird to put solid doors on say the bathroom and maybe the bedrooms (its hard to slee in) and leave the hollow doors on the closets etc? |

| Actually,when I asked my contractor how do i determine solid vs hard core, he suggested exactly what you are planning. solid for those rooms you want soundproof and hollow for those that don't need soundproff. |

| It is possible to design a solid paneled door to be effectively equal to to a flush solid-core door since most of the sound travels under the bottom anyway. A carved 1 3/4" MDF paneled door can have as much as 3/4" thickness to the flat panels. Unless you use edge and bottom seals no door is very sound proof. |
