Lowering Concrete floor

My mudroom's concrete floor is 4" too high. I cannot install a standard outside door or patio door. If you can picture this, the existing patio door does not rest on the concrete, but is instead four inches lower and against the concrete. You have to step up to get in the house. Is there any way I can lower the floor without using a contractor?

The only way to lower a concrete floor by 4" is by jackhammering out the old one and pouring a new one.

Cheaper to get a custom sized door.

There are no circumstances where removing a concrete floor would be cheaper than fixing the door. Unless you and a sledgehammer want to get really friendly and have the project drag out while you go to the orthopedist for a rotator cuff injury.

I have a couple questions.

Is the access from the mudroom to the rest of the swelling a 4" stepdown?

Are there plumbing fixtures and/or appliances in the mudroom?
