I'm in the process of finishing up a renovation that was supposed to include a new mudroom/laundry room with a few lockers and a bench along the long end (13 ft) and a built-in for our stacked washer/dryer on the short end (4ft). Now that it's framed, I'm realizing 4ft may not leave us enough clearance for a walkway. Assuming the minimum for a walkway is 36 inches, that leaves us 12 inches max for a bench. Is that worth doing? Would welcome thoughts as to whether we keep or lose the bench and just go with a wall of hanging hooks. I should add that this is our main point of entry and will get extra use since it's doing double duty as a laundry room (would be great to have the storage!) Thanks!
