Grill Detail on Fiberglass French Doors - outswing

Hi. I'm opening a brick wall in an old house and putting in an out-swing french door, each door being 2'8" or 2'10" wide. I'm looking at ThermaTru to save some money. I've used ThermaTru for regular entry doors and they look good, especially with the flush glass option (in my opinion :-). I want the french doors to look like old painted divided-lite doors, so I'm concerned about the way the grills look. I can't tell from the catalog (or on line) if the grills are flat strips or have a more detailed profile. I can't even tell if the grills in the photo are between the glass panes! Can someone enlighten me on this?

Also, when I saw the price of a transom across the top (that doesn't even open!), I was gobsmacked. They do a lot of modifications at this place, and he said they could use an openable sidelite turned 90 degrees to make a transom. I saw one at the shop and it looked like it would work. Looked great! Any ideas on this?

Thanks!
