Vinyl siding, what to put under it?

We pulled off the old wood siding, was rotting, and put in fiber glass insulation, tyvek and a thin fan foam as recommended by a guy at Lowes. Does this sound right? Thus far we have only done a small area and can adjust before its to late if need be.

If there's no sheathing, I certainly wouldn't be putting in fg that wasn't there before.

Yes. If there's no sheathing, under the siding, no fibrous insulation should be put in there. Housewrap alone is not sufficient to keep the insulation dry.

Many thousands of homes are built that way, but I always hated the idea of a wall with no solid medium between the studs. I had the put OSB on my house.
