3/4" drop at threshold, step or ramp?

At the junction between a bedroom and bathroom where new addition joined old house I've ended up with change in floor height of 3/4". I didn't catch it in time to bring up the subfloor on the low side, and there's now finished hardwood on one side and finished tile on the other, about a 7" gap in between. How should I minimize the potential trip hazard in finishing the threshold?

I was thinking about using a marble threshold 2-1/2 in wide that stands 1/4" above the tile and then beveling wood flooring to drop 1/2" over the remaining 5-1/2" of width.

Question is, woud I be better off with a single 3/4" step, or a continuous bevel instead? The bevel would probably be better for possible wheelchair access, but I'm more worried about tripping while going through the door and ending up in the wheelchair. The height difference is enough to be noticeable (and a little disconcerting) when stepping through the door.
