Advice on electrical and plumbing prmits of company that went und

Hi all,
What a nightmare! One year we hired our nephew's newly formed remodel company to redo our second floor completely. The job limped along until last September when the company fizzled. The nephew's partner took the money and ran, leaving nephew holding the bag. Now bad terms for th workers.
Nephew tried to call in permits and was told the original electrician and plumber only can call the permits. These guys are long gone.
The work is finished and up to code. What can we do?
Also, the partner didn't pay for a dumpster pull and we have the dumpster sitting n our backyard for about a year. Nephew said he made a deal with dumpster company but doesn't have the cash. Who knows when that will be.
Yes, I have learned a hard lesson about relatives.

As the property owner you will likely have more success with getting inspections done and the permits closed out.

You will probably have to make a trip down to the permit office though and explain things.

It is a lot harder to say "No" to someones face.

It would probably be best to NOT reveal you are related to one of the owners of the company, at least initially.

And........call the dumpster company yourself and find out what's going on. You may get stuck with a large bill for the time it has sat in your yard.

In general, permits and inspection records are public records and available for viewing by the homeowner, realtors.
Some municipalities will periodically review these records for finals and archiving proposes. those that are not finaled may or may not be notified of the condition and asked/demanded to resolve this.
In some cases a "code enforcement" permit may need to be purchased for this purpose, some may be successfully pleaded and accomplished as a courtesy.
Carefully consider the verbiage, method and order you present your case, to maximize your negotiations.
