calk before painting?

Posted by bonniez3 (My Page) on

Just finished tiling the bathroom and have to calk where the tile meets wall. The tile comes up from the floor half way up the wall, like wainscote. I decided on a different paint color for a couple of walls and not sure if I should calk first and then paint, or do I paint walls then calk??
The calk is the same cream color as the grout. Paint is Taupe. Thanks!

Prime, calk. paint. Make SURE it is paintable calk.

thanks :)

RE: calk before painting?

Do as above; prime, caulk, paint. If you like the color of the caulk and are REALLY good at caulking a thin bead of caulk as a last step can give you a straighter line on tile than painting.
