Ceiling is caulked to wall.

We took panelling down in our family room. Under the panelling was drywall. The drywall ceiling was caulked to the drywall walls. Should we mud and tape this joint? Do we need to remove caulk? Help.

Sounds like a good place to add a crown molding.

Either add molding or cut the caulk out with a razor. If you mud over it as it is, you could have adhesion problems and the joints could look bad as they come loose.
