Wanted Warm and Welcoming

Call for any and all creative ideas... Want warm and welcoming approach to our front door. But wait.. we live in the country. To access our home you must drive uphill one block then curve to face our home, then you will be facing our garage. From there you must decide whether to take the sidewalk that heads left or right. If you go right you head towards the back. People tend to go right because the sliding door on our sun room is sort of visible and because the driveway turnaround is on that side.

I want people to come to the front door. If the left sidewalk is chosen , the winding sidewalk is 30 feet long to the front door. And the front door is not easily seen. We hired a designer to help us with this dilemma and we currently implemented his idea of jutting out a front entry. But after the remodeling even with the jutted out front entry ( maybe doesn't jut out far enough but too late to change it) this problem still exists.

We are at the landscaping stage of our remodeling. We're considering putting up a sign with an arrow that says "Welcome this way". No, seriously... we've considering an arbor over the sidewalk which would be warm , welcoming and more directing but because of its height would block any front door visibilty we do have, especially coming up the driveway.

We've searched the internet and had several landscapers give their design ideas. Colorful landscaping plantings would help draw people to the left, we are not sure that is enough.

Perhaps you've dealt with this dilemma yourself ? Perhaps you've seen this situation and liked what someone did to draw you around to the front ? Perhaps you've got an idea?

All ideas will be considered.

Thanks
