Which way do the ceiling joists run?

I can't imagine any exterior wall that doesn't bear load. Put a sleeper across the ceiling to protect the drywall and pop in some temporary studs. Cut out the existing, install the header, and you're done.

Can't tell from your picture, but like above, think of every exterior wall as load bearing

Turns out it does not bear much weight as the joist and roof beams of the addon are supporting most of the weight of the studs. Cut them and put one 2x6 under them to match the joist of the addon. Will be redoing the ceiling of the garage room to be level with the addon since it is off by 1"
